When you add your domain, its www address is added for you. To make it open your shop, add an A record for www with the same server IP as @. Do not point www to your free address with a CNAME.
Where to find it
Admin › Online store › Store design › Custom domain (অনলাইন স্টোর › স্টোর ডিজাইন › নিজের ডোমেইন). Under Your own domain, your domain shows two lines: one without www and one with www, each with its own status. Step 3 of How to connect your domain shows the records. Only the store owner (Super Admin) sees it.
Step by step
- Open the DNS settings at the company you bought the domain from.
- Delete any CNAME or other A record for
www. - Add an A record: name
www, value the server IP shown on the page (the same IP as for@). - Make sure the TXT record from step 2 of the page is there. You do not need a second TXT record for www.
- Go back and press Check now.
- Wait until the www line also shows Working (https).
Example: at "Rangdhanu Fashion", rangdhanufashion.com worked but www.rangdhanufashion.com did not. The owner found a CNAME for www pointing to the free ecommerceautopilot.com address, deleted it and added A www with the server IP. An hour later both lines showed Working (https).
How it works
- One TXT record proves both. The record sits on your main domain (
_ecap-verify.rangdhanufashion.com) and proves www too. - Why not a CNAME? Your free address runs through Cloudflare. Cloudflare refuses a CNAME to it from another domain (error 1014), so www would never open.
- Its own certificate. The www address gets its own free https certificate once its A record points here.
Good to know
- Connected before the TXT check? A www address added before the ownership check counts as proven together with its main domain. You do not need to do anything for it.
- www can be your main address. When it works, press Make main next to it if you want shoppers to land on www. Otherwise www sends them to your main address.
- Cloudflare: keep the www record on DNS only (grey cloud) until it shows Working (https).
- Every own domain works the same way: each has its own www line.
Common problems
- The main domain works, www does not. The www record is missing or is a CNAME. Replace it with an A record.
- www stays on "Waiting for DNS". The line under it shows where it points now. Delete old records and wait; DNS changes can take a few hours.
