How do I connect my own domain?

To open your shop on your own domain, like yourshop.com, add it in Custom domain, put the TXT record and the two A records shown there at the company you bought the domain from, and press Check now. When it shows Working (https), your shop opens on your domain.

Where to find it

Admin › Online store › Store design › Custom domain (অনলাইন স্টোর › স্টোর ডিজাইন › নিজের ডোমেইন). The page is called Your domain. Only the store owner (Super Admin) sees it.

A domain from another company can be connected only on a paid package that includes it. On Start Free, and during the free trial, the page shows how it works but a yellow note asks you to choose a paid package.

No domain yet? When domain selling is on, the same page has a Buy a domain box. A domain bought there is set up for you and works on every package. See How do I buy a domain from my admin panel?.

Step by step

  1. Open Custom domain. Under Your own domain, type your domain in the Domain box, for example rangdhanufashion.com.
  2. Press Add domain. It is added with and without www.
  3. Open the DNS settings at your domain company. Add the TXT record shown under How to connect your domain. Its name is _ecap-verify. plus your domain (for example _ecap-verify.rangdhanufashion.com) and its value starts with ecap-verify=. It proves the domain is yours. Some DNS panels want only _ecap-verify as the name. Add it within 7 days: a domain not proven by then is removed by itself (the page shows the date).
  4. Delete any other A or CNAME record for @ and www. Then add two A records, one for @ and one for www, both with the server IP shown on the page.
  5. Come back and press Check now.
  6. Watch the status next to your domain:
    • Waiting for the TXT record: the TXT record is not found yet. Nothing goes ahead until it is.
    • Waiting for DNS: your domain does not point here yet. The line under it shows where it points now.
    • DNS OK — making the certificate: the DNS is right, and the secure certificate is being made.
    • Working (https): done. Your shop opens on your domain.

Good to know

  • Do not use a CNAME to your free address for www. That address runs through Cloudflare, so a CNAME from your domain to it is refused and www never opens. Use the A record.
  • Prove it within 7 days. A domain whose TXT record is not found within 7 days of adding it is removed by itself. Until then the page shows "Will be removed on … if not proven." Your free address keeps working, and you can add the domain again any time (with a new TXT value).
  • You do not have to keep pressing Check now. Domains are checked again by themselves every 10 minutes. After the TXT record is found and the DNS points here, the certificate (https) is usually made within about 10 minutes.
  • DNS changes can take from a few minutes up to a few hours.
  • Type just the domain. If you paste https://www.rangdhanufashion.com/, it is cleaned to rangdhanufashion.com.
  • Up to 10 own domains. Each one has its own TXT record. See How many own domains can my store have?
  • One main address. Once your domain works, shoppers on your other addresses are sent to your main address. You can choose which one it is.
  • If your paid package ends, a connected domain pauses 3 days later: it shows a short "paused" page with a link to your free address. It comes back by itself when you renew.

Common problems

  • "Your own domain is not available on the free package." Choose a paid package in Package & billing that includes your own domain.
  • "That domain is already used by another store." One domain can belong to one store only.
  • The domain shows "This domain is not connected yet". The TXT record has not been found. Add it as shown on the page and press Check now.
  • www does not open. It probably has a CNAME. Replace it with an A record to the server IP.
  • Certificate failed. Check that the DNS points here, and, if you use Cloudflare, that the records are DNS only (grey cloud). It is tried again later by itself.
