How is profit & loss worked out?

01 Nov 2026 3 min read বাংলায় পড়ুন

Profit & loss takes the sales of your delivered orders, subtracts the cost of the goods, adds any other income and subtracts the expenses written in your cashbook. What is left is your net profit (or loss) for the dates you choose.

Where to find it

Admin › ERP › Accounts Department › Profit & loss (হিসাব বিভাগ › লাভ-ক্ষতি).

It is part of the owner's money view: only the store owner (Super Admin) sees it. Money overview (owner) does not open it for staff, even when ticked.

How it works

The page opens on This month. Use the date button for other dates or Lifetime.

  1. Sales – the total of website orders with the status Complete that were placed in these dates. It is split into Products and Delivery charges collected, and shows how many orders and items.
  2. Cost of goods – counted one of two ways (pick at the top):
    • Cost = buying price of products sold: each product's Purchase Price × the quantity sold.
    • Cost = supplier bills of these dates: the supplier bills dated in these days, plus stock bought for cash under a "Stock purchase" type. This suits shops that make their products from bought materials.
  3. Gross profit = sales − cost of goods.
  4. Other income – cashbook money-in under "Other income" types.
  5. Expenses – cashbook money-out under expense types, one line each: ads, salary, courier, rent and so on.
  6. Net profit (or Net loss) = gross profit + other income − expenses.

Example: in one month, Rangdhanu Fashion delivered orders worth ৳2,00,000. The buying price of what was sold is ৳1,10,000, so the gross profit is ৳90,000. Expenses are ৳35,000 for ads, ৳30,000 for salary and ৳8,000 for courier. Net profit: ৳17,000.

Good to know

  • The starting choice of cost: if any product has a purchase price, the page starts with buying prices; otherwise with supplier bills.
  • Products without a buying price count as ৳0. A yellow warning says how many, because the profit then looks higher than it is. Add the Purchase Price on those products.
  • Left out on purpose: money received for orders, supplier payments, owner money in or out and loans. They move cash but are not profit or cost. With buying prices chosen, stock purchases are left out too.
  • Salaries count when they are in the cashbook. Paying salaries from Payroll writes them there under "Salary".
  • An expense counts only if it is in the cashbook under an expense type. Spending you did not enter does not lower the profit.
  • The right side shows the Last 12 months: a chart of sales and costs, and a table of sales and profit per month.
  • Press Print for a paper copy.

Common problems

  • The profit looks too high. Look for the yellow warning about missing buying prices, and check that this month's expenses are in the cashbook.
  • Sales look low. Only orders with the status Complete count. Orders still on the way are not sales yet.
