Slow images are almost always very large photos straight from a phone camera, or new banners whose light WebP copy has not been made yet; it is made at night. Missing images are usually a photo in a file type browsers cannot show, a photo that was never uploaded, or an upload that was refused.
Where to find it
- Product photos: Admin › Online store › Products › All products, open the product, the Image and Multi Image boxes.
- Sliders: Admin › Online store › Store design › Sliders.
There is no setting for the light WebP copies; they are made by themselves.
What to check, most common first
- The photo is very large. A phone photo can be many times bigger than the product box needs. New JPG and PNG product photos get a WebP copy when you upload them, but a WebP copy of a huge photo is still heavy. Resize photos to about 800 × 800 before uploading, then upload them again.
- A new slider or banner is still heavy. Every night at 03:30, JPG and PNG pictures over 80 KB get a lighter WebP copy. Something you uploaded today gets its copy tonight; check again tomorrow.
- The file type cannot be shown. Use JPG, PNG or WebP. When you add a product, other files are refused with "The image must be an image." Photos in other formats, such as HEIC from some phones, may not show in browsers. Save the photo as JPG and upload it again.
- The photo is too big to upload. A photo over 10 MB is not accepted: saving the product shows an error that the file is greater than the maximum allowed size, and the product is not saved. Make the photo smaller and save again.
- No main photo. A product without a main Image shows a "no image" picture on the shop. Upload a main photo.
- A product card still loads slowly. Product cards use a light copy (up to 600 × 600) made when the main Image is uploaded. If a card still loads the full photo, upload the main Image again.
Good to know
- Your originals are kept. WebP copies never replace your files. A nightly copy is kept only if it is smaller than the original.
- Each browser gets what it can show: WebP to browsers that support it, your original to older ones.
- Pictures added in the drag & drop landing page builder are used as you upload them; make them light first.
- Sample products from a theme use the theme's own photo addresses. Remove them when you add your own products.
- Example: "Rangdhanu Fashion" uploads a 6 MB phone photo of a saree. The product page opens slowly on mobile data. They resize it to 800 × 800, a much smaller file, and upload it again; the page opens quickly.
When to ask the team
If a JPG or PNG under 10 MB uploads without an error but shows as broken on the shop, or a slider is still heavy two days after upload, ask in our Facebook group or press Give Feedback. Add the product's link and a screenshot.
