What are the Roles and Permissions screens for?

The Roles and Permissions screens are lists of the technical names that sit behind the tick boxes on the user form. eCommerce Autopilot sets them for every store, so you can look but not change them. To decide what a person may use, you edit that person in Users & logins.

Where to find it

Admin › Administration › Users & access › Roles and Admin › Administration › Users & access › Permissions (ইউজার ও অ্যাক্সেস). Only the store owner (Super Admin) sees them: their tick, Roles & permissions (owner), does not open them for staff.

How it works

  • Roles lists role names, for example Super Admin and Staff, and older roles that some staff may still have. The note on the page says: "These roles are set by eCommerce Autopilot for every store."
  • Permissions lists permission names with a search box, for example order.view or access.orders. Each tick box on the user form gives one or more of these.
  • There is nothing to edit. The Action column shows "—", and adding, changing or deleting a role or permission is refused, because the same lists are shared by all stores.

The jobs you pick on the user form, such as Admin, Manager, Moderator or Seller, are starting points. Picking one ticks the features that job needs, and you can then add or remove boxes for that one person. Those jobs are saved with each person, not on the Roles screen.

Example: at "Rangdhanu Fashion" the owner wants a new helper to answer the inbox. She does not touch Roles or Permissions. She opens Users & logins, presses Add user, picks Moderator, ticks Inbox — own chats and presses Add user.

Good to know

  • Most shops never need these screens. Everything you can change about a person's access is on the user form.
  • Use them to check a name if support asks which permission someone has.
  • The Super Admin role can use everything. The store owner is always Super Admin of their store.
  • Need a new role or permission? Contact eCommerce Autopilot support. A store cannot add its own.

Common problems

  • "Roles are managed by eCommerce Autopilot." You tried to add or change a role. Set the person's access on the user form instead.
  • I cannot see Roles or Permissions in the sidebar. You are signed in as staff. These screens are the owner's.
