Yes. A shopper who already has an account on another shop on eCommerce Autopilot can sign in on your shop with the same details. The first time they do, the account is linked to your shop and they appear as your customer. Store owner and staff accounts never work this way.
Where to find it
There is nothing to switch on. It works on your shop's sign-in and sign-up pages (yourshop.com/login and yourshop.com/register).
How it works
- Signing in. The customer types their phone number or email and their password, or uses Sign in with an SMS code (when your shop can send SMS) or Continue with Google. If the details are right, they are signed in and linked to your shop.
- Signing up with an email or mobile already used. If the password is the same as on their account, they are simply signed in: "Welcome back! You are signed in." If not, they see "You may already have an account with this email or mobile number. Please sign in with your password, or use a different email and mobile number."
- Nothing is given away. That message never says which shop the account is on.
- Each shop's records stay its own. On your shop the customer sees only the orders they placed with you and only the wishlist they saved on your shop.
Example: Nadia buys from Rangdhanu Fashion. Later she finds Megh Crafts, another shop on the platform, and signs in there with the same mobile number and password. Megh Crafts gets her as a new customer; she does not see her Rangdhanu orders there.
Good to know
- Team accounts stay in their own store. An account that owns a store or has a staff role cannot sign in on another store's shop. On the shop's sign-in it gets "That phone/email and password do not match. Please try again.", and Google sign-in says "This Google account cannot sign in here."
- The account belongs to the customer. If a customer's account is also used on another shop, you cannot change its sign-in details or role from your admin. Saving gets "This is a customer's own sign-in account; it can't be changed from the store admin."
Common problems
- A customer says "I already have an account" but you never saw them. They made it on another shop. Ask them to use Sign in, not Create account, with the same password.
- A store owner or staff member cannot sign in on another shop. Their login is a team account. To shop there, they sign up with a different email and mobile number.
