Your shop never trusts the shopper's browser. After an online payment, it asks the gateway itself (SSLCommerz, bKash, aamarPay or ShurjoPay) whether the full amount came for that order. Only when the gateway says yes is the order marked paid.
Where to find it
You see the result in Admin › Online store › Website orders › All orders, in the Payment Status column. Click a status to see the payment, with the gateway's transaction ID. This window belongs to the feature Payments & profit (owner).
How it works
- The order is saved first. When the shopper presses Confirm order with an online method, the order is saved as cod (not paid yet). Then the shopper goes to the gateway's payment page.
- The shopper pays and comes back. The gateway sends them back to your shop.
- Your shop asks the gateway. Using your own merchant account, it checks that the payment is complete, for this order, and for the order's full amount.
- Marked paid, once. The order's Payment Status becomes paid and one payment is written down with the gateway's transaction ID. If the check runs twice, the payment is still written only once.
- Thank-you page. The shopper sees the order's thank-you page.
Example: a customer of "Rangdhanu Fashion" orders ৳2,150 and pays with bKash. When they return, the shop asks bKash about that payment. bKash says ৳2,150, completed, so the order is marked paid with bKash's TrxID.
Good to know
- Coming back without paying does not count. If the shopper cancels, fails, or the gateway does not confirm the amount, the order stays cod. The shopper lands on your home page with a message, for example "The online payment was cancelled. Your order is saved as unpaid; the store will contact you."
- SSLCommerz also tells your shop directly. It sends its own notice in the background, so an SSLCommerz order is marked paid even if the shopper closes the browser after paying.
- bKash, aamarPay and ShurjoPay are checked when the shopper comes back to your shop.
- Facebook tracking: an online order counts as a Purchase only after this check.
- Send money is different. It is never marked paid by itself; you check the TrxID yourself.
Common problems
- The customer says they paid, but the order shows cod. Look for the payment in your gateway's merchant panel. If the money really came (for example, they closed the browser before coming back), record it by hand in Order Payments.
- "We could not confirm this payment. Please contact the store." The gateway did not confirm the full amount for that order. Check your merchant panel before you send the parcel.
