How do I bring messages and ad spend from Facebook Ads?

Go to Sales team › Facebook Ads, paste an Ads Manager access token with the ads_read permission and press Save and check. Then make sure each ad's name holds the page code. Messages and ad spend come into each page's day by themselves.

Where to find it

Admin › ERP › Sales Department › Sales team › Facebook Ads. Only the store owner sees this button and the ad spend.

Step by step

  1. In Meta Business Settings, make an access token (a system user token works well) with the permission ads_read.
  2. Go to Admin › ERP › Sales Department › Sales team and press Facebook Ads.
  3. Paste the token in Access token.
  4. Ad account IDs: leave it empty to use every ad account the token can see, or type the IDs, separated by commas (act_ in front is fine).
  5. Press Save and check. The message lists the ad accounts the token sees.
  6. Put the page code in every ad's name, or in its ad set or campaign name, as a separate word: RF - Eid panjabi, [RF] winter.
  7. Press Bring messages now. You can choose Last 3 days, Last month or Last 3 months.

How it works

  • Every hour the last 3 days are read again, because Ads Manager keeps changing recent days.
  • Messages are Ads Manager's "messaging conversations started". For each ad the code is looked for in the ad name first, then the ad set, then the campaign.
  • A page's day then takes its messages from the ads, and the seller can no longer type them. Orders and taka are left alone.
  • The Sales team screen shows the owner the Ad spend, cost per message and cost per order.
  • Spend is shown in the ad account's currency.

Good to know

  • The token is stored encrypted and is used only to read ad reports. It cannot change ads or spend money.
  • Ads with no page code in the name lists the ads whose messages count for nobody. Rename them in Ads Manager, then press Bring messages now with a long enough range.
  • Disconnect removes the token. Messages already brought in stay.

Common problems

  • "Facebook did not accept this token: …" The token is wrong, has expired or lacks ads_read. Make a new one.
  • "Last try failed: …" shows on the page. The hourly read failed, often because the token expired. Paste a new token and press Save and check.
