Press the copy icon next to the product in All products. A form opens with the product's details already filled in. Change what is different, choose the main photo again and press Update. A new product is added; the original stays as it was.
Where to find it
Admin › Online store › Products › All products. The copy icon (two overlapping pages) is in the Action column, right after the edit icon.
You need the Products & stock feature. The store owner always has it.
Step by step
- Go to Admin › Online store › Products › All products.
- Find the product. Use the search box, or pick a category in Select Category.
- Press the copy icon in the Action column.
- A form opens with the same name, category, prices, sizes, colours, description and tags. The page title still says "Product Update"; that is normal.
- Change the Product Name so customers can tell the two apart (for example "Cotton Panjabi - Maroon" from "Cotton Panjabi - Navy").
- Change the price, sizes or stock if they are different.
- Choose the main photo in Product Image. A copy needs its own main photo.
- Press Update. The new product appears in All products.
Good to know
- Photos are not copied. Add the main photo, and any extra photos in Multi Image, for the new product.
- The small photos shown on the copy form belong to the original. Do not press the × on them there, or the original product loses those photos.
- The original is not touched. Saving the form makes a new product; the one you copied from keeps its details.
- The shop link is made from the new name. If another product in your shop already has that link, a number is added to the end (for example "cotton-panjabi-1").
- Each copy is one more product in your package's product limit. When you are at the limit, the copy icon shows a message like "Your … package allows N products. Choose a bigger package to add more."
Common problems
- "The image field is required." You did not choose a main photo. Pick one in Product Image and press Update again.
- The copy icon is missing. Your login cannot edit products. Ask the owner to give you Products & stock in Users & logins.
