Choose Single when the product has one price and one stock count, for example a mug or a book. Choose Variable when the shopper must pick a size or colour, and each choice can have its own price, stock and photo, for example a three-piece in M, L and XL.
Where to find it
Admin › Online store › Products › All products › Add Product › Product Type
You choose it once, when adding the product. The edit page keeps the type you chose.
How it works
Single product
- One Sell Price, with an optional discount (Fixed or Percentage).
- One Stock Quantity, if Manage Stock is Yes.
- On the product page the shopper just presses the order button.
Variable product
- When you choose Variable, a table appears with one row per choice: Size, Color, Price, Discount Amount, Discount Price, Stock Quantity and Image.
- Press + to add a row for each size and colour you sell.
- On the product page each row is a button such as "L - Red". When the shopper taps one, the price changes to that row's price, the photo jumps to that row's image if it has one, and the order buttons switch to Out of Stock if that row has no stock.
Example for "Rangdhanu Fashion": a cotton kurti is Variable with three rows, M at 1,250 taka, L at 1,250 taka and XL at 1,350 taka, each with its own stock.
Good to know
- Sizes and colours come from your lists. Add them first in Products › Sizes and Products › Colours. A new shop starts with empty lists.
- Every row needs both a size and a colour. If a product only has sizes, add a colour named exactly
Default; the shop hides that name on the button. If it only has colours, add a size named exactlyfree; that name is hidden too. - Sell Price is still required for a variable product. Type it first: it fills the Price of each row, which you can then change.
- You cannot switch the type later. To change a single product to variable, add it again as a new Variable product (then hide or delete the old one).
- Stock matters more on variable products. A row with stock 0 or an empty stock box shows as Out of Stock.
Common problems
- The Size or Color list in the table is empty. Your Sizes or Colours list is empty. Add at least one of each, then open Add Product again.
- Shoppers say a size is "Out of Stock" but you have it. Open the product, type a Stock Quantity for that row, and press Update.
