Start with the message on the screen. Autopilot AI always says why it is not working: it was switched off, a bill is not paid, or the AI was busy for a moment. Most of the time one of the checks below fixes it.
Where to find it
The store owner sees the AI's state at the top of Admin › Autopilot AI › AI Usage & bills. Live chat settings and Inbox settings also show a yellow message when the AI cannot answer.
What to check, most common first
- "Autopilot AI is switched off in this store." The owner turned it off. The owner can press Turn Autopilot AI on in AI Usage & bills.
- "Autopilot AI is paused: the AI bill for … is not paid yet." Pay the bill; the AI starts again at once. See What happens if the AI bill is not paid?
- "The AI did not answer. Try again in a minute." The AI company was busy for a moment. Wait a minute and try again.
- "Autopilot AI is not set up yet." This is on our side. Tell the eCommerce Autopilot team through Give feedback.
- You use your own AI key and it fails: the key, its credit or the model is the problem. See Do I need my own AI key for Autopilot AI?
Checks for each part
- Website live chat: Who answers must be The AI assistant, and your package must include "AI assistant in live chat" after the free trial. See The Live chat AI assistant is not answering.
- Inbox: the inbox needs a Premium or Custom package. For automatic answers, Automatic answers must be on; with Only outside office hours it answers only outside your office hours; it does not answer after 23 hours, post comments, or chats it handed to a person until someone answers.
- The AI answers but says the wrong thing: teach it the right answer in Teach your AI, and remove the old item from What your AI knows.
- 1-Click AI Products: make your categories first, and check you may add products.
When to ask the team
If no message explains it and the AI still does not answer after a few minutes, press Give feedback and say which part you were using and what you saw. Never share an API key.
