How do customers stop WhatsApp marketing messages?

A customer writes STOP to your WhatsApp number, and your store sends them no more WhatsApp campaigns. If they write START later, they get offers again. You do not have to do anything: the panel handles it and answers the customer by itself.

Where to find it

There is no switch: it is always on for every WhatsApp number connected to your Inbox. On Admin › Online store › Marketing channels › WhatsApp marketing (the WhatsApp campaigns page), box 2. New campaign shows how many customers wrote STOP and are always left out.

How it works

The whole message must be one of these words (capital or small letters, with or without a full stop):

To stop offers To get offers again
STOP, STOP ALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, বন্ধ, বন্ধ করুন, আর পাঠাবেন না, অফার বন্ধ START, চালু, চালু করুন

After STOP, the customer gets a short reply in Bangla saying no more offers will be sent and that START brings them back. After START, they get a thank-you reply saying STOP turns them off again.

Example: a customer of Rangdhanu Fashion writes "বন্ধ" to the shop's WhatsApp. The next week the owner makes a campaign for all customers. That customer is left out, and the message after Make the campaign says "(1 left out — they wrote STOP)".

Good to know

  • Every kind of list skips them: WhatsApp chat customers, All customers and pasted numbers.
  • STOP after a campaign was made still counts. When their turn comes, that number is not sent and shows as Failed with "The customer wrote STOP (no offers)."
  • Only campaigns stop. The chat itself still works: the message comes into your Inbox, and your sellers can answer it as usual.
  • Per store. A STOP sent to your store does not affect other stores.
  • A longer message does not count. "Please stop sending offers" is not read as STOP. If a customer asks this way, ask them to write just STOP.

Common problems

  • A customer says they wrote STOP but still got an offer. Check what they wrote: only the words in the table work, alone in the message. They also need to write it on WhatsApp, to one of your store's WhatsApp numbers; STOP on Messenger or Instagram does not count.
  • A customer wants offers again. Ask them to write START to your WhatsApp number.
