Your shop can give Facebook and Instagram a ready product list (a catalog feed). Open Facebook Pixel & CAPI, press Turn the feed on, copy the Feed address and paste it into Meta Commerce Manager as a data feed. Meta then reads your products by itself for catalog ads, retargeting and Shops.
Where to find it
Admin › Online store › Tracking & codes › Facebook Pixel & CAPI (ট্র্যাকিং ও কোড), the card Facebook catalog (product feed) at the bottom of the page.
Tracking & codes is for the store owner (Super Admin) only. The Tracking overview page also shows a Facebook catalog card that says if the feed is on.
Step by step
- Go to Facebook Pixel & CAPI and scroll to Facebook catalog (product feed).
- Press Turn the feed on. The badge changes to Feed is ON.
- Under Feed address, press Copy. The address looks like
https://rangdhanufashion.com/feeds/facebook-catalog.xml. - Open Meta Commerce Manager and your catalog. If you have none, make one: E-commerce, Online products.
- Go to Catalog › Data sources › Add items › Data feed › Use a URL.
- Paste the address and choose Daily (or hourly).
- Connect the catalog to your Pixel (Catalog › Events), so catalog ads can use the products people viewed and bought.
How it works
The feed has one item per product, with its name, text, page address, main photo and up to 10 more photos, in stock or out of stock, the price the product page shows (with the sale price when there is a real discount), the brand (or your shop's name) and your delivery charges.
Each item's id is the product id, the same id your Pixel and Conversions API send when someone views, adds to cart or buys. That is why catalog ads can show a person the exact product they looked at.
Good to know
- Off by default. While the feed is off, the address opens "not found".
- Updates by itself. The feed is rebuilt after a product, category or brand is saved. Meta picks up the change on the schedule you chose.
- Left out: products without a photo or a price, and hidden products.
- Only your products. Each store's feed is on its own domain and lists only its own products.
- It is the same list as the Google Merchant Center feed, which has its own switch in SEO settings.
