Why are some customers skipped as "not on WhatsApp"?

When a campaign message fails because the number is not on WhatsApp, the panel remembers it. From then on, that customer is left out of every All customers campaign. This keeps your list clean and saves you sending to numbers that can never receive it.

Where to find it

Admin › Online store › Marketing channels › WhatsApp marketing opens the WhatsApp campaigns page. In box 2. New campaign, under All customers (orders and chat leads), the note says: "Numbers WhatsApp said are not on WhatsApp are always left out (found on the first campaign)."

How it works

  • The first campaign finds them. You send to your customer list. For a number without WhatsApp, WhatsApp answers with its "not on WhatsApp" error, and the number shows as Failed on the campaign's page with Meta's reason.
  • The customer is marked. That customer in CRM › Customers is marked as not on WhatsApp.
  • Later campaigns skip them. The next All customers campaign leaves them out by itself.
  • Good numbers are marked too. When a message is delivered or read, the number is marked as having WhatsApp. Every customer who writes to your WhatsApp number is marked the same way.

Example: Rangdhanu Fashion sends its first offer to 2,000 customers, and 150 numbers fail as not on WhatsApp. Next month the same audience gives about 1,850 numbers, and those 150 are not sent again.

Good to know

  • Only numbers known to have WhatsApp (a tick under All customers) sends only to numbers already proven: delivered, read, or a WhatsApp chat. Use it for a tight list; leave it off to also reach customers not checked yet.
  • The mark changes back by itself. If that customer later starts a WhatsApp chat with you, or a message to them is delivered, they are marked as having WhatsApp again.
  • It applies to All customers only. WhatsApp chat customers already use WhatsApp. Paste numbers sends to every number you paste.
  • Other failures do not mark the number. Only WhatsApp's "not on WhatsApp" answer does.

Common problems

  • Fewer numbers than expected. Some customers were left out as not on WhatsApp, or because they wrote STOP. Your filters also take people out.
  • A customer says they do have WhatsApp. They may have got WhatsApp after your campaign. Ask them to send a message to your WhatsApp number; that marks them as having WhatsApp.
  • Many failures on the first campaign. Normal for an old list. Open the campaign and read the reason next to each failed number.
