What are Fabrics and how do I use them?

Fabrics is a list you make of materials or kinds of product, such as "Cotton", "Silk" or "Georgette". Each has a name and a small image. You pick one fabric on each product, and shoppers can then filter your shop's product list by it.

Where to find it

Admin › Online store › Products › Fabrics. The store owner sees it, and so does staff with the Products & stock feature ticked in Users & logins.

How it works

  1. You make the list. In Fabrics, type a Fabric Name, add a Fabric Image if you like, and press Save.
  2. You pick one on each product. On the product form, choose it in Product Fabrics and save.
  3. Shoppers use it in the Fabrics filter on the shop's product list (/products-list), which shows every fabric in your list.

Fabrics no longer appear on your shop's /brands page. That page now lists your Brands (see the brands article below).

For example, "Rangdhanu Fashion" adds Cotton, Linen and Silk. A shopper who wants only linen ticks Linen in the filter and sees just those products.

Not a clothing shop?

The list works for anything that groups your products by what they are made of or what kind they are. A shoe shop can add "Leather" and "Canvas". The heading on the shop's filter still says "Fabrics", so pick a use that suits that word. For brands, use Products › Brands instead.

Good to know

  • One per product. A product can have one fabric. Use Tags for extra words.
  • Images are resized to 100 × 50 pixels. A simple, wide picture or logo looks best.
  • Top fabrics: tick fabrics in the list and press Active Top Fabric to mark them (the Fabric Top column shows "yes"). De-active Top Fabric removes the mark.
  • The fabric list is your shop's own. Other stores never see it.

Common problems

  • Ticking a fabric in the filter shows no products. No product has it picked yet. Open the products and choose it in Product Fabrics.
  • I want brands, not materials. Add them in Products › Brands and pick the Brand on each product. See the brands article below.
