Product tags are extra words that describe a product, such as "eid collection" or "cotton". Add them in Admin › Online store › Products › Tags, or type them straight into a product. When a shopper searches your shop, products with a matching tag show up too.
Where to find it
Admin › Online store › Products › Tags. The store owner sees it, and so does any staff member who has the Products & stock feature ticked in Users & logins.
Step by step
- Go to Admin › Online store › Products › Tags.
- Type a word or short phrase in Product Tag Name (for example "summer sale").
- Press Save. The tag appears in the list below.
- Open a product in All products (or add a new one). In Product Tags, pick one or more tags.
- Save the product.
You can also type a new tag in Product Tags on the product form. It is added to your tags list when you save the product.
How tags help on your shop
- Search: the shop's product search looks at product names, descriptions and tag names. A shopper who searches "eid" finds every product tagged "eid collection", even if "eid" is not in the product name.
- Footer "Popular searches": go to Admin › Online store › Store design › Footer. Under Footer Section 5 › Footer Popular Tags, tick the tags you want and press Update. The ticked tags show as a small Popular searches row in the footer (on phones the first few, with More for the rest). Each one opens a search for that tag.
Good to know
- Each tag name can be used only once in your store. Two stores can each have their own "new arrival" tag.
- To rename a tag, use the edit icon in the tags list. Products keep the tag.
- Keep tags short and the way your customers would search: "three piece", "panjabi", "gift for mother".
- A few clear tags work better than many. Ten tags that nobody searches only make the list long.
Common problems
- The Tags link is missing. Your login does not have Products & stock. Ask the store owner to tick it in Users & logins.
- "The name has already been taken." That tag already exists. Pick it from the list on the product instead.
