When you tick Trust this device for 30 days on the two-step code page, that browser on that device skips the code for the next 30 days. You still sign in with your username and password; only the 6-digit code is skipped.
Where to find it
The tick box is on the code page that opens after your password, when two-step sign-in is on for you: under the code box, above Sign in. You turn two-step sign-in itself on in Admin › Administration › Security › Two-step sign-in (প্রশাসন › নিরাপত্তা › দুই-ধাপের লগইন).
How it works
- Sign in with your username and password.
- On the code page, type the code from your app (or a backup code).
- Tick Trust this device for 30 days and press Sign in.
- For 30 days, signing in on this browser goes straight in after the password.
The trust is kept in that browser only. Another browser on the same computer, or another phone, still asks for the code. Example: the owner of "Rangdhanu Fashion" trusts the office laptop's Chrome; signing in from her own phone still asks for the code.
Good to know
- Only on your own devices. Never tick it on a shared, shop or cyber café computer.
- The trust ends early when:
- you turn two-step sign-in off and on again,
- the store owner turns it off for you (lost phone),
- you make new backup codes,
- or the browser's cookies are cleared. After that, the code is asked once more and you can tick the box again.
- After 30 days the code is asked again. This is on purpose.
- Within one sign-in the code is asked only once, whether you tick the box or not.
Common problems
- The code is asked every time even though I ticked it. The browser is clearing its cookies when it closes (private or incognito window, or a cleaning app). Use a normal window, or allow cookies for your store's address.
- A device I lost was trusted. Change your password at once, then turn two-step sign-in off and on again. That ends the trust on every device.
