Your colours live in one list at Admin › Online store › Products › Colours. Give each colour a Color Name and a Color Code, then press Save. Variable products pick their colours from this list, and the shop's product list lets shoppers filter by colour.
Where to find it
Admin › Online store › Products › Colours. The store owner sees it, and so does staff with the Products & stock feature ticked in Users & logins.
Step by step
- Go to Admin › Online store › Products › Colours.
- Type the name in Color Name (for example "Maroon"). This is the word shoppers see.
- Type the code in Color Code (for example
#800000). Both boxes must be filled. - Press Save. Add the next colour the same way.
- To change a colour, press the edit icon next to it, change it and save.
- Open a product, set Product Type to Variable, and choose a colour (and size) on each row, with its own price and stock.
How it works on your shop
- On a variable product's page, shoppers choose from the size and colour rows you made. They see the colour's name.
- The shop's product list (/products-list) has a Color filter with every colour in your list.
- A colour named exactly Default is not shown on the product page. Use it on rows where only the size changes.
Good to know
- Use names customers use. "Maroon", "Olive", "Off-white" are easier than "Colour 7". If your shoppers think in Bangla, a name like "Maroon (মেরুন)" helps.
- Finding a colour code: a colour code is a
#followed by six letters or numbers. Search "colour picker" on Google, pick the shade, and copy the code that starts with#. - Rename instead of delete. A product row that uses a deleted colour can stop its product page from opening. Change those products first.
- One spelling. "Grey" and "Gray" become two colours in the filter. Keep one.
- The colour list is your shop's own. Other stores never see it.
Common problems
- "The code field is required." Fill in Color Code too, even a simple one like
#000000. - A new colour is not on the product. The list does not change products by itself. Open the product and add a row with that colour.
