How do I add a redirect (301 or 302) on my shop?

Open Admin › Online store › Marketing & SEO › Redirects, write the Old address and the New address, choose 301 · Permanent or 302 · Temporary and press Save. Anyone who opens the old address, including Google, is sent to the new page.

Where to find it

Admin › Online store › Marketing & SEO › Redirects (মার্কেটিং ও SEO › রিডাইরেক্ট)

It needs the Website design tick. The Admin role has it, and the store owner (Super Admin) always does.

Step by step

  1. Open Redirects. The Add a redirect box is at the top.
  2. In Old address, write the address that no longer works, for example /eid-offer-2025. You can also paste the full link; the shop keeps only the path.
  3. In New address, write a page of your shop, for example /category/three-piece, or a full https:// address of another site.
  4. In Type, keep 301 · Permanent for a page that has moved for good. Use 302 · Temporary only for a short time, for example during a sale.
  5. Press Save. You see "Redirect saved" and the line appears under All redirects.

To change one, press the edit icon on its line; to remove it, press the delete icon.

Good to know

  • A redirect only answers when the old address is a 404. If a real page still opens at that address, the page wins. A redirect can never hide a live page.
  • The list shows every redirect. Manual ones show 301 or 302. Ones the shop made by itself when you changed a product, category or brand address show Auto · 301; they cannot be edited here.
  • Hits and Last used tell you if people still come through an old address.
  • No loops, no chains. A redirect that would come back to itself is refused. If /a goes to /b and you then send /b to /c, the shop changes /a to go straight to /c, so there is always one hop.
  • Ad links keep their tags. Anything after ? in the visitor's link (for example ?fbclid=…) is carried to the new page when the new address has no ? of its own.
  • Each shop is separate. Your redirects only work on your own shop's domain. Another store can use the same old address for its own redirect.

Common problems

  • "The home page cannot be redirected." The old address cannot be /.
  • "This address belongs to the system…" Addresses starting with /admin, /api, /sitemap or /robots.txt cannot be redirected.
  • "This old address already has a redirect." Edit the existing line instead of adding a new one.
  • The redirect does not happen. Open the old address yourself. If a page still opens there, the redirect is not used.
