How do I add a video to a product page?

Copy the video's embed code from YouTube and paste it into the Video Embedded Code box on the product form, then save. The video plays inside the Description tab on the product page, above the product's text.

Where to find it

  • New product: Admin › Online store › Products › All products › Add Product › Video Embedded Code
  • Existing product: All products, then the edit icon next to the product.

You need the Products & stock feature (Admin and Manager have it; the owner always does).

Step by step

  1. Open the video on YouTube.
  2. Press Share, then Embed.
  3. Copy the code. It starts with <iframe.
  4. In your panel, open the product and paste the code into Video Embedded Code.
  5. Press Save (or Update).
  6. Open the product on your shop and check the Description tab.

Good to know

  • Paste the embed code, not the link. The box puts exactly what you paste onto the page. A plain link such as https://youtu.be/… shows as text and does not play.
  • Fit it to phones. YouTube's code has a fixed width (width="560"). If the video is wider than a phone screen, change it to width="100%" before saving.
  • One place on the page. The video sits at the top of the Description tab, before the Product Body text.
  • To remove the video, empty the box and press Update.
  • Only paste codes you trust. Because the box adds page code to your shop, use codes copied from YouTube yourself, not ones sent by strangers.
  • Keep it short. A 30–60 second video that shows the product being worn or used is usually enough.

Common problems

  • Only text or a link shows, no player. You pasted the video's link. Go back to YouTube, use Share › Embed, and paste the <iframe…> code instead.
  • The video says it cannot be played here. The video's owner has switched off embedding on YouTube. Use a video that allows embedding, such as one from your own channel.
  • The video does not show at all. Check that you are looking at the Description tab and that you pressed Update after pasting.
