Why do messages come in but post comments do not?

The page's token does not have the permissions Facebook needs for comments, so the panel switched the page on for messages only. Make a new token that includes pages_manage_metadata, pages_read_user_content and pages_manage_engagement, connect the page again, and check that comments are ticked in 2. Rules.

Where to find it

Admin › CRM › Inbox › Inbox settings (সিআরএম › ইনবক্স › ইনবক্স সেটিংস). Connecting a page again needs its token, so the store owner (Super Admin) does it.

How it works

When a page connects, the panel asks Facebook to send it both the page's messages and its post comments. Comments need more permissions than messages. If Facebook refuses the comments part, the panel asks again for messages alone, so your customers' messages still arrive. When you connect one page, you then see:

" is connected. Messages are on. Comments are not: the page token needs pages_manage_metadata, pages_read_user_content and pages_manage_engagement."

With Connect all pages, the pages connect the same way, quietly, with messages on.

Step by step

  1. In your Meta app, make a new token that has the three comment permissions as well as the ones you used before.
  2. Go to Admin › CRM › Inbox › Inbox settings.
  3. Paste it in Connect all my pages at once (a User token) or Or one page by its token (a page token) and connect.
  4. The message now says only "… is connected." with no line about comments.
  5. In 2. Rules, make sure Bring comments on the page's posts into the inbox is ticked, and press Save rules.
  6. In your Meta app's webhook, make sure the page field feed is subscribed.

Good to know

  • Connecting again does not make a copy. The same page is updated with the new token; its chats stay.
  • The tick matters too. Even with the right token, comments are left out while Bring comments on the page's posts into the inbox is not ticked. It is ticked from the start.
  • Instagram comments come through the Instagram account's own line, not the Facebook page.

Common problems

  • Still no comments after a new token. Check Last calls from Meta under the webhook card: if no calls come when someone comments, the feed field is not subscribed in your Meta app.
  • The permissions cannot be ticked. Some need Meta's review of your app. Until then, messages work and comments wait.
