How do I make a Google app for YouTube?

Your store connects to YouTube through a small Google app that you make yourself, free, in the Google Cloud console. You turn on the YouTube Data API, make a "Web application" client with the redirect address your panel shows, and copy its Client ID and Client secret into the panel.

Where to find it

The redirect address and the boxes for the keys are on Admin › Online store › Marketing channels › YouTube marketing (মার্কেটিং চ্যানেল › ইউটিউব মার্কেটিং). Only the store owner (Super Admin) sees it.

Step by step

  1. Open console.cloud.google.com with the Google account that owns the channel and create a new project (name it after your shop, for example "Rangdhanu Fashion").
  2. In the API library, search for YouTube Data API v3 and press Enable.
  3. Open the OAuth consent screen (Google now calls it Google Auth Platform) and start it: your shop's name as the app name, your email as support and contact email, audience External.
  4. In the audience settings, publish the app so it shows "In production".
  5. Make a new OAuth client of type Web application.
  6. Under Authorized redirect URIs, add the address shown on the YouTube marketing page. Press Copy there and paste it, so it matches exactly.
  7. Create the client. Google shows the Client ID and Client secret.
  8. In the panel, paste them in Client ID and Client secret and press Save.
  9. Press Connect YouTube channel and allow access with the channel's Google account (or its Brand Account).

Good to know

  • The redirect address is your shop's own address. It is made from the address you opened the panel at. If you later move to your own domain, open the panel on the new address, copy the new redirect address and add it to the same Google client.
  • Publish the app (step 4). Google ends a connection made by an app still in testing after 7 days.
  • "Google hasn't verified this app" may show when you connect. It is your own app: open Advanced and continue to it.
  • The keys stay with your shop. They are kept encrypted. The secret is never shown again; leave its box empty to keep the saved one.
  • Saving a different Client ID disconnects the channel. Press Connect YouTube channel again after saving.
  • Google changes its screens from time to time. If a name above looks different, look for the same idea: API library, consent screen, audience, clients.

Common problems

  • Google shows "redirect_uri_mismatch". The address in your Google client is not exactly the one on the YouTube marketing page. Copy it again with Copy, add it in Google and save there.
  • The Connect button is grey. Save both the Client ID and the Client secret first.
