Go to Admin › Administration › Security › Blocked phone numbers, type the number and a reason, and press Submit. From then on, an order with that phone number is refused on your website checkout and on your landing pages.
Where to find it
Admin › Administration › Security › Blocked phone numbers
- The store owner always sees it.
- For staff, the page belongs to the Block IPs & phone numbers tick in Users & logins. The sidebar link shows for staff who also have the Users & access tick.
Step by step
- Open Blocked phone numbers.
- Type the number in Mobile Number (for example 01XXXXXXXXX).
- Write why in Reason (for example "Three fake orders, never picks up"). Both boxes must be filled.
- Press Submit. You see "Number blocked." and the number appears at the top of the list below.
To change a number: press Edit on its row, change the number or the reason, and press Update. You see "Number block updated." and the list reloads.
To unblock a number: press Delete on its row. It asks "Are you sure?"; press Yes, do it!. You see "Number unblocked." and that customer can order again.
Good to know
- Any way of writing works. Numbers are compared as 01XXXXXXXXX, so 01XXXXXXXXX, +8801XXXXXXXXX, numbers with spaces or dashes, and Bangla digits all match the same customer.
- What the customer sees: "Sorry, we cannot take this order. Please call the shop." No order is made, and the attempt is not kept as an incomplete order either.
- Where it works: the website checkout and landing page order forms. It does not stop an order that you or your staff enter yourselves in the admin panel or in Seller orders.
- Your list is only yours. Blocking a number here affects your shop only, not any other store.
- Same person, many numbers? Also block their IP address in Blocked IP addresses.
- Fake orders first: mark the order as Fake so it shows in Security › Fake orders and counts in the customer fraud check, then block the number if they keep doing it.
Common problems
- "That number is already blocked." That number is already on the list. Find its row and press Edit if you want to change the reason.
- A real customer says they cannot order. Look for their number on the list and press Delete.
- The edit box shows a red message after Update. The change was not saved. Fix what the message says (for example a number that is already blocked) and press Update again.
