Your shop opens on several addresses: the free yourname.ecommerceautopilot.com address and each own domain, with and without www. To keep things simple for shoppers and Google, every address sends shoppers to your main address, to the same page.
Where to find it
You see your main address in Admin › Online store › Store design › Custom domain (নিজের ডোমেইন), on the line ⭐ Main address. You change it there with Make main. Only the store owner (Super Admin) can change it.
How it works
When a shopper opens a page on any other address of your store, they are sent to the same page on the main address at once. The rest of the link stays the same, including anything after a ?, such as an ad's tracking tags.
Example: the main address of "Rangdhanu Fashion" is rangdhanufashion.com. An old Facebook post links to rangdhanu-fashion.ecommerceautopilot.com/product/red-saree?utm_source=facebook. A shopper who taps it lands on https://rangdhanufashion.com/product/red-saree?utm_source=facebook.
The move is a "301", the kind of redirect that tells Google "this page lives at the other address now". Google then shows one address for your shop instead of the same pages twice.
These are never moved and work on every address:
- the admin panel, and the staff and customer sign-in pages;
- Package & billing and the return from an online payment;
- courier, inbox and other webhooks;
- forms that send something, such as placing an order.
Good to know
- Nothing breaks. Links you shared with your free address keep working; they just land on the main address.
- Only working addresses are used. An own domain becomes the main one only when it shows Working (https). If it stops working, shoppers go to the next working address, so they never land on a dead one.
- Only your own store's addresses. Shoppers are never sent to another store.
- A store on hold shows "This shop is closed for now" on every address instead.
Common problems
- My free address jumps to my domain. That is this feature. If you want the free address to stay, press Make main next to it.
- Shoppers land on www (or without www) and I want the other one. Press Make main next to the one you want.
- The main address does not open. Check its status on Custom domain. A domain that is not Working (https) is never used as the main address, so the problem is usually DNS or the certificate.
