Why is my page called "Facebook page" in the Inbox?

Your page token is allowed to receive messages but not to read the page's name (it lacks pages_read_engagement). The panel still connected the page using its ID, and, with no name typed, called it "Facebook page". Connect it again with a name typed in, or use Connect all pages, which brings each page's real name.

Where to find it

Admin › CRM › Inbox › Inbox settings, card 3. Connected pages (সিআরএম › ইনবক্স › ইনবক্স সেটিংস). Each line shows the name, the type and the page ID. Only the store owner (Super Admin) connects pages.

How it works

When you paste a page token, the panel first asks Facebook for the page's ID and name. If Facebook refuses because of a missing permission, the panel asks Facebook which page the token belongs to. That always gives the ID, so the page connects. The name then comes from the Name (optional) box, or is "Facebook page" when the box was empty.

The name matters: sellers see it on chats, in the shares list (which pages a seller serves) and in the Inbox performance report by page.

Step by step

  1. Go to Admin › CRM › Inbox › Inbox settings.
  2. In 3. Connected pages, under Or one page by its token:, keep Facebook Messenger selected.
  3. Type the name you want in Name (optional), for example "Rangdhanu Fashion".
  4. Paste the same page token (or a new one) and press Connect.
  5. The same line now shows the new name. No copy is made.

Or add pages_read_engagement to the token. Then the name is read from Facebook by itself.

Good to know

  • Connect all pages keeps names. It takes each page's name from Facebook for new pages, and keeps the name of a page that is already connected.
  • The page works the same way under either name: messages arrive and replies go out.
