How do I set up the TikTok Pixel and Events API?

Add your Pixel ID and Events API access token, switch TikTok tracking on and press Save. Then press Send a test event. Your shop does the rest.

Where to find it

Admin › Online store › Tracking & codes › TikTok Pixel & Events API (ট্র্যাকিং ও কোড). Only the store owner (Super Admin) can open it.

Step by step

  1. In TikTok Ads Manager › Tools › Events › Web events, make a Pixel and choose Events API + Pixel.
  2. Copy the Pixel ID (capital letters and numbers) into Pixel ID.
  3. In the Pixel's Settings › Events API, press Generate access token and paste it in Events API access token. It is kept encrypted and never shown in full again.
  4. Choose Send the purchase: when the order is placed, confirmed (Processing) or delivered (Complete).
  5. Switch TikTok tracking on and press Save.
  6. Press Send a test event. "Connection works" means TikTok received it.

Which events are sent

On your shop TikTok event From
Product page ViewContent Browser
Add to cart AddToCart Browser + server
Checkout opened InitiateCheckout Browser
Payment way chosen AddPaymentInfo Browser
Order CompletePayment Server (and the browser when "placed" is chosen)

Browser and server use the same event id, so TikTok counts each one once. The server also sends the buyer's phone and email scrambled (SHA-256), the TikTok click id and cookie, so TikTok can match the sale to your ad.

Good to know

  • Only real sales. Cancelled, fake and returned orders are never sent. Online payments go only after the payment is confirmed.
  • Test event code. Paste the code from Events Manager › Test events to see server events there while you check. Empty it when you are done.
  • The last 7 days box on the page shows what went out, what is waiting for its order and what failed (failed events are tried again by themselves).
  • No token yet? The Pixel still works in the browser; the badge says Pixel only.
