What is the Data deletion page on my shop?

Every shop has a ready Data deletion page at yourshop.com/data-deletion. In plain words it tells customers what your shop keeps when they message your Facebook page or Instagram account, what it is used for, and how to ask for it to be deleted. Meta asks for such a page when your own Meta app connects your pages to the Inbox.

Where to find it

Open /data-deletion on your shop's own address, for example rangdhanufashion.com/data-deletion. There is nothing to switch on: it is part of every shop, like the Track order page.

How it works

The page has four parts:

  • What we keep when you message us: the customer's name and profile picture as Facebook or Instagram shares them, the messages, photos, voice notes and files they send with your replies, and the phone number and address they give for an order.
  • What it is used for: answering them, taking and delivering their orders and after-sale care. Only your own staff see it; it is never sold or shared, except name, phone and address with the courier who delivers the order.
  • How to have your data deleted: the customer writes "Please delete my data" on the same page or account (or contacts you), gives their Facebook or Instagram name and phone number, and the shop deletes the conversations and personal details within 30 days and tells them. The record of an order (invoice, amount, date) may be kept where the law requires it for accounts.
  • Contact: your shop's name, and the phone number and email from your footer, with links to your Contact us and Privacy policy pages.

Good to know

  • Your details are filled in by themselves. The shop name comes from your store settings; the phone and email from Footer Section 6 in Admin › Online store › Store design › Footer (if the footer has no phone, the shop's own phone is used). Keep them up to date.
  • It is a promise to your customers. When someone asks, delete their details within 30 days and reply to them.
  • It is not in the footer by itself. Give the address to Meta, and link it from your privacy policy page if you like.
  • The page text is the same for every shop and cannot be edited.
